Film Screening: George Dureau: New Orleans Artist

A standalone, one-day screening of George Dureau: New Orleans Artist, a 45-minute documentary that examines the life and enduring impact of the iconic New Orleans painter and photographer. The event will be hosted by 21c Museum Hotel Lexington on Sunday, May 18 from 5-6:30pm and presented in partnership with the John Burton Harter Foundation and Institute 193.

Following the screening, guests will be encouraged to explore the 21c’s exhibition and engage in informal conversation, fostering a space for reflection and connection around Dureau’s work and its ongoing cultural relevance. A table featuring materials and information about the John Burton Harter Foundation will also be available, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the Foundation’s mission and support for queer art and artists.
