Artist Talk: Peyton Scott Russell

Deepen your understanding of graffiti as a teachable fine art with Minneapolis-based artist, Peyton Scott Russell, who joins the central Kentucky community as Josephine Sculpture Park’s 2025 Artist-in-Residence. Peyton will present a 30-minute talk followed by Q&A.

Peyton Scott Russell has a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and for over four decades has been a professional artist and arts instructor. In 1984, the film, Style Wars, introduced Peyton to graffiti art and the world of Hip-Hop. From that point forward, he has devoted his time and energy to graffiti art. Currently, Peyton is focused on his organization, SPRAYFiNGER®. Peyton has engaged with individuals of all ages throughout Minnesota; North and South Dakota; Wisconsin; Kentucky; Kansas; Nevada; New York; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Tel Aviv, Israel.

Josephine Sculpture Park (JSP) is a 40-acre outdoor sculpture park that invites visitors to explore art, nature, and creativity year-round—absolutely free! With over 70 large-scale contemporary artworks nestled along 2+ miles of scenic trails, this vibrant space connects visitors to native meadows, fields, and woodlands.
