Crochet Workshop
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Join us for a crochet workshop with artists Hannah March Sanders and Blake Sanders on Sunday, August 10. Attendees of all experience levels will learn to make a crocheted spiral from upcycled materials at one of two sessions at 11:00am or 12:30pm. Get started on your own meditation mat or sustainable rug or learn to crochet improvisationally to make sculptural forms. Bring your own materials that are ready for a new life, such as clean t-shirts, sheets, pillow cases or tablecloths or use supplied upcycled materials available at the event. Attendees will leave with a crochet needle and the knowledge to continue their own projects.
Seats are limited and tickets are required, with proceeds going to 21c St. Louis non-profit of the month, Power4STL.
Hannah March Sanders and Blake Sanders currently have works on display as part of the Elevate exhibition at 21c St. Louis. Through their artistic practice, the Sanders create process-driven artwork to contrast the immediacy of consumer culture. Their collaborative, site-specific installations center family body politics and building sustainable community. Many of the materials used in their practice continue the stories of objects, finding new purpose for unused fabrics.
