About the Musicians

Banjo playerย Tray Wellingtonโ€™s approach is all about looking forward, with a genre-defying approach that bridges folk, bluegrass, jazz, and contemporary roots music. An International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Award winner, Wellington is critically acclaimed not only for his technical prowess, but also for leveraging his unique point of view to craft a one-of-a-kind voice on the instrument.ย

Inspired by a dulcimer built by her grandfather, Tennessee-born Sarah Kate Morgan has been playing dulcimer since she was 7 years old. She’s a talented singer and songwriter whose style reflects and honors life in southern Appalachia. Currently based in Hindman, Kentucky, she practices, teaches, and preserves Appalachian folk traditions in her role as the Hindman Settlement Schoolโ€™s Traditional Arts Education Director. Sarah Kateโ€™s work centers on a lived belief that art and tradition are living, breathing tools that foster hope, build community, and create change.
