Exhibiting Forgiveness Film Viewing

Join us for a viewing of Exhibiting Forgiveness, a film by Titus Kaphar.

Kaphar’s painting Destiny IV is currently on display as part of the exhibition Pop Stars! Popular Culture and Contemporary Art at 21c St. Louis. We’ll be watching Kaphar’s 2024 film Exhibiting Forgiveness which is a semi-autobiographical feature length film about a Black artist’s relationship with his estranged father. After the viewing, stay for a conversation with guest speakers Jarrett Kendall from Fathers and Families Support Center and Sheila Suderwalla from Artists First as they discuss some of the topics from the film.

Conversation Topics:
– Addiction and family
– Intergenerational effects of domestic abuse and neglect
– Changing patterns of addiction and ending cycles of abuse
– How and when to forgive and what does that look like
– Art as outlet for process and healing

This event is free and open to the public but RSVP is recommended.
