Sip & Tour

Join us for an evening of fun and inspiration at this month’s Sip & Tour! Guests will enjoy a specialty cocktail inspired by an artwork from our current exhibition The Future Is Female, followed by a guided tour of the exhibition.

This month, Idol Wolf bartender Cristos George presents Between Form & Care, a balanced, sweet seasonal cocktail featuring Laws Rye Whiskey, spiced cranberry cordial and Macadamia nut syrup inspired by Cheryl Pope’s Portrait of Woman (2021).

This cocktail was created to translate the artwork’s tactile intimacy, quiet tension, and balance of strength and care into flavor. Inspired by the figure’s angular pose, direct gaze, and Cubist-influenced structure softened through layered wool, the drink centers on rye whiskey’s spicy backbone, wrapped in macadamia, white cacao, vanilla, and spiced cranberry to evoke warmth, nostalgia, and winter comfort reminiscent of a macadamia white chocolate cookie. The burgundy tones and lattice-like framing in the portrait—symbols of containment, protection, and Pope’s belief in cloth as a universal language of love—are echoed in the cocktail’s grounding depth and the introduction of cranberry bitters, which brings balance to the sweetness.
